MONTEFIASCONE.

It is located at 590 m and surely it is from here that the most beautiful view of the lake can be enjoyed. Rising in the early Middle Ages, it entered the dominions of the Church in the 8th century, of which it became an important center.
Like all towns bordering the lake, the earliest recorded inhabitants were the Etruscans, then the Romans, who, during barbarian invasions, moved to where the present town is for defense.
Because of its strategic location, it was repeatedly contested, fortified and was placed in defense of the heritage lands by Innocent III in 1207. In 1353 when Cardinal Albornoz arrived there with the task of reaffirming the authority of the Church, the Castle of the Rock became the most fearsome operations center of the Papal army.
The Cathedral of St. Margaret is visible from every part of the city, as its imposing dome is the third in Italy in terms of internal diameter, after St. Peter’s and St. Maria del Fiore Another place to visit is l Basilica of St. Flavian, built in the 11th century, on the ancient church of St. Mary is composed of two overlapping churches and oriented differently, but it presents peculiar architectural solutions, managing with a rare balance to bring together the two different stylistic trends.
The city owes its notoriety, in addition to its history and enviable location, to the production and trade of the excellent and famous Est!Est!! Est!!! wine.

DEMONSTRATIONS AND EVENTS.

Every year in August it is held,the epic Falisco Historical Pageant Parade, with a procession of more than 150 characters in medieval costume.
Also in August, a major Wine Fair is held, showcasing and trading the best products from around the district, such as the local “Est! Est! Est!”, Aleatico from Gradoli and Cannaiola from Marta.
